Are we mad as hell and not going to take it anymore?

Since I wrote about the imperative for business leaders to stand up and speak out about topics that they believe in, that effect their business’ ecosystem, and the values of their missions, a lot more activity has occurred.  Here’s a wrap up.

They discussed it at Davos.

Larry Fink, chairman and CEO of Blackrock, sent the same message to CEOs. He urged them to avoid short-term, quarterly earnings mentality and to engage the board in longer-term, purpose-driven activity.

To prosper over time, every company must not only deliver financial performance, but also show how it makes a positive contribution to society. Companies must benefit all of their stakeholders, including shareholders, employees, customers, and the communities in which they operate.

The Philadelphia Inquirer published commentary today from a collection of business leaders here.

  • Todd Carmichael, founder of La Colombe, describes his multi-faceted life as activist, explorer, and entrepreneur. He also talks about why he is committed to fair trade and paying fair wages, resisting and marching.
  • Julie Zeglen describes how millennials are channeling their anger into important acts of generosity.
  • Paige Wolfe shows we can each do something.

What do you need to speak up about? Or what are you mad-as-hell about?
